Workout Wear

I usually start my day off with a yoga class (quick plug for Yoga for Life and Heidi, Lesli and Samantha).  You may not know that Twice Blessed/Diva's sells workout wear, golf apparel and other types of fitness clothing.  Some shoppers wouldn't expect to find Lululemon, Athleta, Nike, and Lucy brand clothing in a consignment shop, but we carry these brands every day!
We even have Ivivva athletic wear by lululemon for young girls, and Under Armour for boys!

Today I'm wearing a champion hooded pullover and my favorite zigzag patterned Nike leggings to class, both purchased at Diva's, of course.

I purchased this custom yoga mat bag on etsy.com from a seller called the legendary skunk, but I am tempted to learn to crochet myself just to sell some of these in the shop!  Yes, we do sell some new, handmade items, too, but that's another blog!

DESIGNER PURSES

As I mentioned in my introductory post, we sell more than clothing at Twice Blessed/Diva's Consignment Boutique in downtown Lake Orion, Michigan!  I spent most of an entire workday pricing and primping more than a dozen designer purses brought in by one of our consignors earlier this week.

All of these Coach bags are pre-owned, but sometimes only the price you pay gives that secret away!

We select clean purses with few or no visible stains or wear and research our shop price to be as fair as possible to both the consignor and buyer.  

Michael Kors brand sells very well for us, and we do our best to make them look more appealing by displaying them in our beautiful new shop space located just across the street from Sagebrush Cantina in downtown Lake Orion.

Of course since this is also a style blog, I will comment on more of my consignment clothing finds, like this BKE cardigan that always brings compliments.

Miss Me jeans are worth waiting for when you pay only $48 (they were twice as much in the retail store)!  And they are already broken in! If you've never bought resale jeans, you need to try them!

And never forget accessories; I bought the long chunky necklace and faux pearl bangle from Diva's and really liked this purse, too.

Wish List

The day I write this, I'm going to find out if I'm smarter than a fifth grader as I head to school to help in my younger daughter's classroom with a math unit (not my best subject).

I'm wearing skinny jeans with a frayed hem, a Hint brand olive green vest and cute faux leather booties with stud detail.  My jewelry is Premier.  All of these items except the jeans (Articles of Society at Nordstrom's) were purchased at Twice Blessed/Diva's, the consignment shop where I work in downtown Lake Orion, Michigan.

The jeans, although not purchased from the shop, lead me to my topic for today; our store WISH LIST. Sometimes I tire of waiting for a certain style item to come into the store in my size and I have to resort to buying it retail!  Many of our customers don't know, however, that if you are a consignor at the store, we have a wish list that we can link to your store account.  This way, if you are waiting, for example, for a pair of Miss Me jeans to come in in your size, we can note that on your wish list and as we are pricing new arrivals, your name will come up and we can call you to let you know that your wish list item has come in.

I've got to run, but just wanted to highlight two other items I have purchased from the store that I'm putting on as I run out the door, two of my favorite pieces; a wool CAbi topper and a Coach (my first) crossbody purse.

INTRODUCTION

I'm Sherry.  I work at Twice Blessed/Diva's in downtown Lake Orion, Michigan, a Christian consignment shop founded 10 years ago by owner Kristy Kowatch.  We sell children's clothing, sizes 18 mos. to 12/14, and ladies clothing, both junior and womens' styles and sizes.  We also sell designer purses, some better costume jewelry, shoes, workout wear, and children's dance and soccer clothes. We also have several creative sellers who bring us bows and other handmade items.

A little about me.  I graduated a (ahem) few years ago from Michigan State University where I majored in merchandising management, then worked a few years as an assistant department store manager before quitting my career to start my family and follow my husband around 3 countries and 10 moves before settling here in Lake Orion.  Three and a half years ago, as my twins started high school, I decided to go back to work part-time.  My first stop was Twice Blessed/Diva's for several reasons; the location, the family friendly store hours, and the store staff and ambiance that I had come to know through consigning my younger daughter's clothes.  Luckily I was hired!

Although I had bought resale for my kids, I never bought resale or consignment clothing for myself before working here.  I've always been a clothes horse and fashion fanatic.  I think my personal style is eclectic, which really lends itself to consignment shopping.  I look for combinations that I find flattering and that make me feel good rather than always following the latest trend.  That being said, I also like to be "in style".

So here is my first blog post.  I promise the rest won't be so long.  Just keep in mind that consignment style is more about the look than about buying the exact pieces that you see on the blog, because most items are one of a kind!

At this time of year in Michigan it can be 30 degrees in the morning and in the 50's by 1 p.m., just like today!  So I dressed in layers so that I could adjust to the changing temperatures.  I'm wearing boot cut jeans by Rerock for Express, an ombre cotton jacket with faux fur trim by Amnesia Jeans, and wooden earrings, all purchased at Twice Blessed/Diva's.

When it warms up, I can take off the jacket and show off the 100% silk Lucky Brand shirt that I bought at Diva's from the 1/2 off racks!  The sleeves roll up and button, too.
