The HEART of Consignment Part I

I've been thinking lately about why I love my job so much.  Yes, there is the obvious: my co-workers, our customers, and "HELLO",  working in a giant closet, as a former co-worker once said!  But Twice Blessed/Diva's and the consignment industry in general have heart, and that is what I want to focus on today.

Our consignors know that when they drop off clothing at our store to sell, we don't price every piece.  If items are out-of-season, or outdated, or maybe have a small stain or a button missing, we donate those items.  We have several charities that pick up donations weekly from our store. St. Vincent DePaul, St. Mary's and Love Inc. are regular recipients of the clothing we don't sell.  Then sometimes we will have special collections going on, like right now one employee is collecting for Dress for Success and we just made a very large clothing donation to the First Presbyterian Church in Pontiac that organized a celebration for children and their families in Pontiac.  See link below.

So my point today is that Consignment has HEART in the way it gives to the community. Yes Fashion is Fun, but for many, clothing is little more than a basic need, and I'm proud to support an employer and industry that help provide for this need.

Of course I still have to add a style element to this blog:

This outfit was perfect for playing euchre with neighbors on Saturday night!  The top was fun but comfortable and I was appropriately casual in jeans.

I love, love, to buy consignment jewelry!  I wear this wooden Silpada bracelet weekly and bought the earrings separately but usually wear these pieces together.

Consignment can be a great source for shoes, too, but always try both of them on!  I love these wedge sandals by CLARKS.  They go great with the bohemian fashions out this season.

Thanks for reading! Next I will focus on some ways that Consignment has HEART!
