Don't Blink!

I cannot believe it's been almost  a month since my last post, but neither can I believe what has transpired in my life in the span of a month!  My twins turned 18, they went to prom, then graduated from high school and had their graduation party, all since my last blog!

Clothing and fashion have always been important to me especially during busy time and memorable moments.  In high school, I remember a friend asking me at a party one time if I even owned a pair of jeans because I preferred expressing my individuality by wearing a skirt I had made myself or by raiding  my father's closet and wearing one of his dress shirts belted at my hips.  In college I made many of my own clothes too, sometimes designing them, mostly to save money.  I even got a job working in a fabric store where I would get 1/2 off my fabric and notions if I let the store put the clothes in the display window after I made them.

Clothing management takes a lot of time.  I usually plan my outfits ahead for work days and for any special occasion.  If I don't, I could easily end up being late to wherever I'm going because I'm still looking for just the right look!  As I've said, I've been exceptionally busy lately, so I didn't do my usual planning for work clothes this week, and I was literally planning what I would wear today as I was walking the dog before dressing for work.  In the end, I got to work on time, and I wanted to share a tip I discovered for coordinating an outfit when you are short on time or creativity.

This is what I ended up wearing: A White House Black Market Jacket and striped tee, Jewel Kade jewelry and red skinny jeans, all purchased from Diva's Consignment Boutique in downtown Lake Orion. The Shoes are new, one of 2 pair I bought retail this season.

So what is the tip I wanted to share?  I picked one item I wanted to wear, in this case the white jacket, then I did a Pinterest search for "outfits with white jacket"  and multiple images popped up of cute combos that gave me inspiration for this ensemble!  I've also done a google search in the past with pretty good results as well.  For example, I had a pair of tie-dyed jeans I didn't know how to style, and after doing a google search, I ended up wearing them with a black lace sweatshirt and scarf, imitating an outfit worn by Fergie from The Black Eyed Peas (but of course it looked quite different on Sherry Mailloux from Lake Orion, Michigan!).

So if you want to try a new look, use internet resources to get ideas, then put your own twist on it. And if you buy those inspiration pieces at Diva's or another consignment boutique, it won't be a big financial risk to try something new!
